HI EVERYONE, MEET CAMERON!
Cameron is a 12-year-old boy from Queens, NY who at just 2 years old was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although faced with many challenges such as severe verbal delays, through unwavering faith and prayer, and support from family he developed language at the age of 5. Despite the fact that he still experiences experiences a few delays, he continues to progress and inspire all those lucky enough to know him.
Cameron loves to celebrate birthdays & holidays, and he has an incredible memory! He loves math, basketball, arts & crafts, spending quality time with his family and friends, and most importantly … PIZZA.
My mission is to share Cameron’s journey in hopes that young people can understand and appreciate their peers on the spectrum. As I always say, “Being KIND is cool.”
I’M DEANDRA
DeAndra is a young mother from New York whose son was diagnosed with autism at two years old. She started “Cam’s World” to show the world the very few things that go on in her sons Cameron’s daily life. She wanted to create a fun but educational platform to help other families who are not on the spectrum better understand this disability that currently affects 1 in 36 children.
She hopes that through reading her book, hosting events, and posting their journey, many little ones will understand that it’s okay if other children are different from them and that we are all different in our own way and shouldn’t judge one another for being such. Her goal is to spread awareness and to make a difference in this world as an autism mom.
Today, Cameron is 13 years old and continues to beat all odds. Together, they hope to inspire others who have special needs and make a difference in their community and around the world!
